Women Build May 12-17 2025
Women Build Week is all about celebrating the important role women play in building strong communities, while also recognizing the unique ways women are impacted by unstable and unaffordable housing. Homeownership can be the stepping stone for women and their families to achieve security and independence while building the life of their dreams.
We are committed to creating an environment where women feel encouraged and empowered to take on the challenge of helping build a Habitat home. Through Women Build, we hope to inspire women from all walks of life to join us on the construction site, whether they’re experienced tradeswomen or picking up a power tool for the first time. Everyone is welcome to participate in Women Build, including all who self-identify as women and those who support them.
How Does it Work?
Women Build is primarily a team event, though individuals are welcome to participate in fundraising and volunteering as well. As a team, you’ll work together to:
Fundraise: Through peer-to-peer fundraising, your team can help raise the funds needed to purchase materials that will be used to construct habitat homes.
Volunteer: Together, you and your team can learn new skills and help build homes for local families by volunteering on our construction site. No experience is required – our construction staff and crew leads will teach you everything you need to know, and all tools and materials will be provided.
Celebrate: There is so much to celebrate during Women Build Week, including our amazing volunteers and homebuying families! Teams are invited to join us for our free Women Build end of week celebration event.

Why Women Build?
We believe it’s important to celebrate the role women play in building communities. We also believe it’s important to bring attention to the unique ways women are impacted by unstable and unaffordable housing. Across the globe and here in our community, women face more obstacles to achieving stable, affordable housing and homeownership. Disproportionate access to economic opportunity, unequal caregiving responsibilities, and discriminatory housing practices are just some of the factors that contribute to this inequality. Being able to access stable and affordable housing opens the door to financial independence and creates a sense of safety and security. Homeownership can be the stepping stone for women and their families to build the life of their dreams.
